1951 Abbott Bentley Mark VI Three position Drop Head Coupe. Chassis number B118JO
This car was first delivered to Thomas Sutcliffe and Sons Ltd in March 1951.
Abbott was an English coachbuilder based in Farnham, Surrey, England, They bodied about twenty Bentley Mark VI, many of which were Drop Head Coupes It is believed that they were all to varied designs and this example is unusual in that it it a three- position, which is rarely found in post war cars. This is a highly practical design for comfortable touring with protection for the rear occupants.
The car is handsome and deserving of the restoration that was started but failed due to the old age of the prior owner. One door is off and partially dismantled. The engine is out of the car and partially dismantled for restoration. It is believed to be complete.
Otherwise the car is complete and together and appears to have been first restored perhaps 30 or more years ago. The interior wood is pretty and in good condition. The structure of the car appears sound. Chrome is in average unrestored condition. The seat leather may be original and is usable but would be replaced in the event of a full restoration. The front headlamps are built into the center of the front fenders in an unusual fashion. Other Abbott MVI DHCs had either independent P100s or were positioned closer to the radiator.
Such a distinctively-styled Bentley may well be worth $300,000 to $400,000 after a full restoration. For only
